Pencil opens up to self-service sign-up

With self-service sign-up, merchants create their own business on Pencil and choose their plan, without going through support.

Every new business is checked by the staff before it is activated. Applicants receive the outcome by email and in the app and, if needed, can correct their details and submit the request again. The trial period starts when the request is approved.

It can happen that the venue already has receipts uploaded by customers before it signed up. In that case the owner can flag that the business is theirs, right away or later from their profile, and once the request is approved they find the feedback already collected.
