L'Aquila 2026 reads events from the news

Many sports events in the L’Aquila area appear in no calendar. A road race or a tournament is announced in an article from a local paper, with the date written in the text.

I added to L’Aquila 2026 an automatic reading of local news: articles that contain a future date are passed to a language model, which extracts the event details. Uncertain extractions are discarded. The model receives only the text of the article, as stated in the privacy notice.

The same mechanism now also collects cultural events from the newspapers’ pages. For athletics I use the regional calendar and for concerts the season page, and cycling and swimming have been added to the sports covered.
