L'Aquila 2026 reads events out of the news

Sport events around L’Aquila don’t live in a calendar: they live in the news. A road race, a tournament, a match show up in an article on a local outlet, with the date written somewhere in the text, and from there they never reach any structured feed L’Aquila 2026 could aggregate.

I added an adapter to the aggregator that reads the local outlets’ feeds and sends Claude only the articles containing a future date, according to a prefilter that recognises dates written in Italian. The model returns the event in a structured form, an acceptance rule discards uncertain extractions, and every extraction stays on record so it can be checked. Only the article text leaves the server, and the privacy notice says so.

The same mechanism now serves culture, with the outlets’ event pages and the WordPress posts of two sites back online. For athletics I read the regional calendar instead of the national iCal; for concerts, the season’s page. The sport vocabulary now includes cycling and swimming, and titles lose their sponsor names.

To keep an eye on that many sources I added an admin console showing the health of each one. And anyone proposing an event through the form now finds a privacy notice and can ask never to be contacted again.
